Bariatric Frequently Asked Questions

Your journey to a healthier, happier you starts with understanding. We’re here to guide you every step of the way, because your well-being is worth it.

Some questions we are frequently asked are:

Initial Recovery and Expectations

On average, patients can expect some initial swelling and bruising after plastic surgery. Depending on the procedure, swelling may last a few days to a few weeks, but most people begin to see visible changes within the first few weeks. It’s important to remember that healing is a gradual process, and the final results can take several months to fully reveal themselves. During the first few days after surgery, you might experience some discomfort, but we provide comprehensive care to help manage pain and ensure your comfort.

Long-Term Results and Progress

After the initial recovery period, you’ll start noticing significant improvements in your appearance. Here’s a general timeline of what to expect:

•  First Few Weeks: The first week or two is when you’ll likely experience the most swelling, bruising, and discomfort. However, by the end of this period, you’ll begin seeing the early results of your procedure.

•  1-3 Months: Swelling will continue to decrease, and you’ll notice more definition and refinement in the results as the healing process progresses.

•  6-12 Months: By this time, most of the swelling should have resolved, and you’ll be able to see the final, long-term results of your surgery. The full healing process can take up to a year, especially for body contouring procedures, so be patient as the final outcome continues to settle.

Will language be a barrier during my plastic surgery in Mexico?

A common question we get is: ‘If I have plastic surgery in Mexico, will the medical staff understand me?’ Absolutely! Our entire team is bilingual and fluent in English. All of our surgeons, nurses, and support staff speak English, and we’ll be with you throughout the process to ensure everything goes smoothly. We understand how important communication is, especially in medical settings, and we’re committed to providing a comfortable, seamless experience for you.

How will I feel after surgery and when can I go home?

After your plastic surgery, you can expect to feel a bit sore and swollen, which is completely normal. You will spend one or two nights in the hospital, depending on the complexity of your surgery. While the initial recovery period can be a little challenging, we will manage your pain with medications to help you feel more comfortable. By the time you leave the hospital, most patients feel much better—typically around a 7 or 8 out of 10 on the pain scale. The use of minimally invasive techniques, where possible, also helps make your recovery smoother. You can expect to rest at home and gradually return to normal activities within a few weeks, but remember that it can take time to see the final results.
